An Update on the Status of the Turkic Union Regarding the Opening of Embassies in Southern Cyprus

As a Turkish American, my immediate feelings upon hearing the news that several members of the Turkic Union had recognized Southern Cypress by opening embassies, were no different than many other Turks. My initial reaction was to criticize the Turkic Nations. Why? Because by recognizing Southern Cyprus and opening embassies, these members were publicly acknowledging that Turkiye was an invader of Cyprus. As a reminder, the circumstances behind their actions was due to the EU offering these nations economic assistance to the tune of 12 billion euro to build infrastructure which included the completion of the Silk Road from China to Europe which would pass through these nations. With this economic agreement, the EU also put the condition that the receiving nations were to open embassies in Southern Cyprus. The problem with analyzing the impact of this economic deal is just that. An economic deal. it should not be considered geopolitical subject. Yes, the EU played dir...

Update on Central Asian Turkic States

The “United States of Turkic Nations” was originally formed by the former president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and President Erdogan of Turkiye. The union is currently comprised of the following nations- Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Since its formation, the union has come along well with efforts to institute a common military, common economic goals, cultural integration, and even to form a common alphabet. Although not official members, both Hungary and Northern Cyprus are welcomed to observe at official meetings. Turkiye has done a great deal to help all of the member nations after they gained independence from Russia. In fact, Turkiye was the first to recognize each country as sovereign, and to open an embassy in each. Their militaries are all educated in Turkish war academies and students from these nations are given scholarships to study in Turkiye. Turkiye has given them military know-how, teaching t...

Why has the World Become so Chaotic?

Why has the world become so chaotic?   It is said that many nations are run by their deep state, not by elected politicians.   Consider, for example, the U.S., the presumed superpower of the world. In reality, it is the Pentagon that ultimately runs U.S. geopolitics. American presidents do have power, but the amount of power depends on how savvy the president is. Even then, a savvy president only maintains fifty percent of the power. Trump is considered savvy, perhaps not politically, but definitely as a pragmatic businessman. In terms of running the country, his power level is estimated between 30 and 40 percent. Quite a sobering thought.   According to the U.S. Constitution, no president is allowed to serve more than two terms. Contrast that to democratic nations such as Russia and Turkiye. President Putin has been running Russia for more than 20 years. In Turkiye, President Erdogan has been running the nation since 2003, a total of 22 years.  ...
