Update on Central Asian Turkic States
The “United States of Turkic Nations” was originally formed by the former president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and President Erdogan of Turkiye.
The union is currently comprised
of the following nations- Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan,
Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Since its formation, the
union has come along well with efforts to institute a common military, common
economic goals, cultural integration, and even to form a common alphabet.
Although not official
members, both Hungary and Northern Cyprus are welcomed to observe at official
meetings.
Turkiye has done a great
deal to help all of the member nations after they gained independence from
Russia. In fact, Turkiye was the first to recognize each country as sovereign, and
to open an embassy in each. Their militaries are all educated in Turkish war
academies and students from these nations are given scholarships to study in
Turkiye. Turkiye has given them military know-how, teaching them everything
that is needed to be effective in war.
Everything was on target
until…
Recently five of the member
nations made a deal with Europe and received $12 billion dollars in return.
$12 billion for what? To have their infrastructure renovated and the long-awaited Silk Road from China to Europe to be completed. The condition? These
five nations must officially recognize Southern Cyprus who belongs to the
European Union.
In my opinion, the EU
killed to birds with one stone. Their goal is to dis mental the “United States
of Turkic Nations.”
Will they succeed? We
shall see what develops in the future.
These five nations
welcomed the offer, accepted the $12 billion and each country has since opened
an embassy in Southern Cyprus.
Why is this a problem?
It is a problem because
Turkiye does not recognize Southern Cyprus. Turkiye maintains its military
bases in Northern Cyprus to protect the Turkish citizens.
For years, the United
Nations has tried to bring the two sides together, but Southern Cyprus does not
want a two-nation state. They want Northern Cyprus back and to make all of
Cyprus Greek.
Why did Turkiye invade
Cyprus? Because the Greeks were ethnically cleansing the minority Turks on the
island. It was essential for Turkiye to protect is citizenry. The result was
the spit of the island in to two separate countries. Southern Cyprus is Greek.
Northern Cyprus is Turkish.
Now, with this underhanded
EU deal, five nations of the Turkic Union recognize the entire island as Cyprus as
Greek. It also means that the Turkish army stationed in Northern Cyprus is now
considered an invader.
Our Turkic brothers have stabbed
Turkiye in the back. But, even so, they are still our brothers.
What would you do if your
younger sibling did something wrong against you? You would forgive them and try to solve this family feud.
As a Turkish American, I
am terribly disturbed with the action of these brothers. As an elder, I of the
mind that these leaders are uneducated people. They have no clue how to
effectively run their nations. They have no clue concerning the strategic
importance of being in this union.
But, even with what they
have done, we cannot possibly punish these five nations. Why? Because their
opposition parties are furious with this behavior. I can assure you that the
current leaders will not be in power come the next elections.
What stupidity these
leaders have shown by accepting the money. Don’t they realize that the Silk
Road ultimately passes through Turkiye before entering Europe?
Don’t they see that
Turkiye will charge them higher prices for their natural gas which passes through
Turkiye to Europe?
There is one leader of one
nation, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, who has not opened an embassy in Southern
Cyprus and, to this date, still supports Northern Cyprus. Aliyev is not only
smart, but he is a visionary leader. He was educated in one of the best
universities in Russia and also taught at that same university.
It is interesting that the
EU thought Turkiye would say nothing about the deal. But Turkiye has 2000 years
of history behind it. Out of the 27 empires that have existed in the world, the
Turks successfully built 16 of those empires.
Yes, that is a fact. 16
empires spanning 2000 years of history.
Who is not happy about the
Turks forming this Turkic union? Russia, China, Iran and the EU. These European
leaders did a good job persuading the untrained and uneducated leaders of
Central Turkic Asia to accept their $12 billion dollar deal.
Or so they think.
