An Update on the Status of the Turkic Union Regarding the Opening of Embassies in Southern Cyprus

As a Turkish American, my immediate feelings upon hearing the news that several members of the Turkic Union had recognized Southern Cypress by opening embassies, were no different than many other Turks.

My initial reaction was to criticize the Turkic Nations.

Why?

Because by recognizing Southern Cyprus and opening embassies, these members were publicly acknowledging that Turkiye was an invader of Cyprus.

As a reminder, the circumstances behind their actions was due to the EU offering these nations economic assistance to the tune of 12 billion euro to build infrastructure which included the completion of the Silk Road from China to Europe which would pass through these nations.

With this economic agreement, the EU also put the condition that the receiving nations were to open embassies in Southern Cyprus.

The problem with analyzing the impact of this economic deal is just that. An economic deal. it should not be considered geopolitical subject.

Yes, the EU played dirty with these nations. Yes, Russia is not altogether pleased with the deal, particularly with the level of influence that was put on these nations whose borders are right in Russia’s back yard. However, Russia is happy with the possibility that the deal will break of the Turkic Union.

Why am I rehashing all this?

Because I was wrong in criticizing our Turkic brothers. Criticism will only progress the situation into a bigger problem which cannot be undone. Politics between nations ought to concern real political concerns, not emotional concerns.

The reason that the EU offered this dirty deal was for the sole purpose of disassembling the United States of Turkic Nations.

Why?

Because there is a bigger game being played out. Southern Cyprus is being turned into a weapon deposit site. Greece, the U.S., the UK, Israel, and France all getting ready to expel all the Turks from Northern Cyprus and reunite the country.

The Cypriot religious cleric, Baspiskopas, stated: “We should throw all the Turks out from the island of Cyprus.”

That is exactly what the plan is. And that is why the EU played dirty.

The initial reaction of the entire nation of Turkiye, including myself here in America, was that the acceptance of the deal was backstabbing by our Turkic brothers.

That was an understandable reaction due to the fact that we have more than two thousand years of commonality, in culture, in language, and in every aspect of our Turkic race.

Yes, on the surface that is how it looks. But, looking deeper into where the problem lies, we can see a different scenario.

First of all, since this damage has accrued, we need to try to repair the damage rather than merely place blame on our Turkic brothers.

Particularly in light of the fact that the real culprit is the EU. In understanding that the EU’s Constitution states that no nation is permitted to join the union without first solving their border issues.

Cyprus is a divided country. Despite that fact, the EU accepted Southern Cyprus into the EU by accepting the whole island as a Greek island.

By doing this, the rights of the Turks living in Northern Cyprus are overlooked. In addition, they are preparing to take back Northern Cyprus from the Turks.

What a perfect time to put a wedge between the members of the United States of Turkic Nations members.

Despite the fact that the Central Asian Turkic nations gained their independence in 1992, they are still very much under Russian influence. In fact, their official language is still Russian.

It must be remembered that during their time under Soviet Union control, they were ruled by a communist regime which did not permit them to exercise their Turkic culture. They were forced into accepting the Soviet culture. They have not forgotten their Turkic culture, but it has remained in the background.

Due to this influence, in 1994 Kazakhstan was the first to recognize Southern Cyprus, followed by Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.

During the past 35 years none of these nations opened an embassy in Southern Cyprus, not until the EU’s offer of 12 billion euros.

As of today, our Turkic brothers are still with the Turkic Union. In fact, it was just announced that next meeting of the United States of Turkic Nations will be held in Turkish Northern Cyprus.
