Our Epic Road Trip by Nancy Webster Kaya

For the past nine days we have traveled over 2,000 miles through seven states. From six-lane, 70mph highways to two-lane, 35mph back roads.

The focal point of the trip was to be part of the wedding ceremony of hubby’s great-niece, Ezgi, and reunite with his family from Turkiye. It was far more than we both could have imagined. For hubby, his family is everything and being with them brought back so many memories. For me, I feel more a part of the Kaya clan now than I ever have. I will forever treasure the time with Ezgi getting to know her, and to be with Yurduner (Ezgi’s mother) and understand how close we are connected, despite all of the differences in our backgrounds.

In addition to the wedding, the trip was planned to drive both Skyline Dive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, which for me fulfilled a 53-year dream and for hubby to experience a part of the country he has never seen.

What an amazing, beautiful country we have!

Of course it would be difficult not to notice certain things. Our highways are in deplorable condition, but in stark contrast our back roads are well maintained. Gas prices ranged from a little over $2 to almost $5. The majority of the hotels we stayed in were Wyndam and most of those were managed by Hindu immigrants (India). When either hubby or I mentioned he immigrated from Turkiye, there would come the big smiles and the instant connection.

On both the highways and back roads we saw many Trump signs, but not one Harris sign. Most homes were flying American flags.

One of the most interesting conversations (and we had many) occurred on one of the overlooks in Virginia. We stopped to take photos and began talking with two gentleman riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. I noticed they both had ‘Fraternal Order of Police’ tags, and I commented that we ‘back the blue.’ “Thank you, ma’am,” they both replied. Hubby has always had a fascination with motorcycles and began asking questions which they both were happy to answer. Then hubby asked, “So, what is the deal with Harley?” Both men laughed, and one replied, “Harley quickly found out ‘woke’ doesn’t work. They lost sight of who their true customer base is.” The other man added, “These liberals and their ’wokeness’ will be the death of this country.”

It is my personal belief that the majority of this great country does not want another anointed, appointed, molded puppet controlled by the cabal. We do not want what ultimately lies behind the curtain. We need the imperfect man who has been lied about, impeached, arrested, and indicted all because he knows the depths of the evil that the left is capable of.

God willing, on November 6 we will wake up and find we still have our nation, as imperfect as she is. If not, God help us all.

God bless America!
