U.S. Decision to Start Turkiye-Greece War - A Dangerous Development
The U.S. has tried everything to control Turkiye including the July 15, 2016, failed coup, supporting the PKK in Iraq and YPG in Syria, supporting Southern Cyprus and training the Cypriot military, eliminating the military embargo to Cyprus, and stepping up military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea along with France.
But Turkiye successfully stopped
the July 15, 2016, coup despite the deaths of 300 Turkish citizens. Turkiye was
successful in making the U.S. operations in Iraq and Syria useless despite the 15
billion dollars in weapons that the U.S. poured into the PKK/YPG and the YPD. Neither
strategy succeeded in dividing Turkiye.
The Eastern Mediterranean
natural gas consortium, which included the U.S., Southern Cyprus, Israel,
Greece and Egypt, became useless. During one incident an Italian ship was exploring
for oil in the Mediterranean with the protection of a French war ship. It
barely escaped Turkish attacks. After that event, the U.S. and its allies in
Eastern Mediterranean acknowledged that their plan was not viable, and the U.S. pulled
out of the Eastern Mediterranean pipeline project to Europe.
The most recent attempt to
control Turkiye is using the proxy nation of Greece. The U.S. is now trying to
attack Turkiye from Greece through its nine military bases located inside the
country. Here is the difference between Greeks and Turks. Greeks welcome other nations
to help them i.e., inviting the U.S. into their country. They either don’t
realize or don’t mind allowing other powers to intrude which makes them a proxy
nation.
For example, take Ukraine fighting
with Russia. In reality it is the U.S. fighting with Russia using the Ukrainian
people. It is the Ukrainian people who are getting killed. Many Ukrainian
people have become migrants, leaving Ukraine for Poland and other European
nations.
But Geeks don’t seem to
mind becoming a proxy nation. The nation was formed by three generals, Russian,
English, and French in the 1800s. The Greeks never fought to gain their own independence.
They have always been dependent on Europe. When the country became laden with heavy
debt, the Germans pulled them out. Now the U.S. coming in and establishing nine
military bases is welcomed.
In contrast, the Turks would
not allow 80 thousand U.S. troops to pass through Turkiye for their invasion of
Iraq. Because the Turks refused to allow foreign troops (U.S.) inside Turkiye,
the U.S. has humiliated Turkiye on many fronts.
The latest development comes
from the U.S. Congress which put forward a bill to occupy the Greek Islands in the
Aegean Sea. The bill was accepted and passed by the Congress and is now waiting
to be voted on in the Senate. If the bill passes in the Senate and is signed by
Biden, the U.S. plan is to establish military bases in the Aegean islands.
But there is a problem
with that plan. The Lozan and Paris International Agreement states that these Aegean
islands can’t be weaponized. If the U.S. goes forward with this plan, they will
be breaking international law.
That is where the danger
comes from. Turkiye has already warned Greece not to weaponize the islands. But
not just the Greeks building up weapons in the islands but allowing the U.S to
build military bases on the islands.
It is clear that the U.S.
is attempting to bring Turkiye and Greece to war. If this war scenario comes to
fruition, Turkiye has many more advantages due to the closeness of the islands
to its mainland. Also, Turkiye would be fighting a war between U.S. and Turkiye
with Greece as the proxy country.
Would this start WWIII?
That is the probable
scenario.
Who would be Türkiye’s
allies? Russia, Islamic nations, Iran, (because the enemy of my enemy is my
friend) China, and Central Asian nations. Japan and Korea would be on Türkiye’s
side despite their heavy commitments to the U.S., Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Finally, many African nations would take Türkiye’s side.
Who would be on the side
of the U.S.? All English-speaking nations and France. The question would be
concerning Eastern European nations. Which side would they take? That is an
unknown. Except Hungry. Hungary would by on Türkiye’s side. Germany would want
to on Türkiye’s side, but it couldn’t.
So, history repeats itself.
This scenario is no different from 100 years ago. Turkiye vs Western nations.
Here is what would happen.
If the U.S does build bases in the Aegean islands, the Lozan agreement is thrown
out the window. That would give Turkiye the ability to have an outright war
with Greece. Turkiye would attack the islands.
Here is another possible scenario.
Thirty miles between the borders of Greece and Turkiye, there is no military
establishment. This was part of the Lozan Agreement. However, the Dede Agac Military
Base and port (where the U.S. is building up weapons) is about 40 miles from the
Turkish border.
The worst scenario would
be for the U.S. to purchase the Greek Islands in the Aegean Sea and establishes
its military bases. Then war would become directly between Turkiye and the U.S.
