President Emanual Macron of France once said, “NATO is brain dead.” I think President Macron is 100% correct. NATO was formed in 1950s as a united force against the Soviet Union. Since the USSR came to an end in 1991, really what is the use of NATO? Well, it did help in the Bosnian War with Serbia, and of course the Afghanistan War against terrorism.   Let me explain what NATO means. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, NATO, has what is known as Article 5 which means that if one member country is attacked all NATO members protect that country. During the Afghanistan War, Article 5 was activated, and all NATO members had troops participating. But in the end, after 20 years of fighting, the U.S. lost the war to the Taliban, pulled out in dishonor, left 85 billion dollars’ worth of American high-tech machinery and weapons behind; not to mention the thousands of civilian casualties.   Then why are NATO members staying together?
