Supreme Court Justices Not Backing Down to the Leftist Mob, Say The Supreme
Court Will Not Be “Bullied
At
the 11th Circuit Judicial Conference in Atlanta on Friday, Justice Clarence
Thomas, the longest-serving current justice on the Supreme Court, stated that
the court will not be “bullied” by public outcry.
Justice
Thomas continued by stating that “we are becoming addicted to wanting
particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don’t like.”
He
then followed up with “We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into
giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a
symptom of that.”
This
comes after the leak of a majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito was
leaked earlier in the week that would overturn Roe v. Wade if the opinion
became final.
The
potential shift on the question of abortion has sparked outrage and protests
across the country including at the homes of the Supreme Court Justices.
Justice
Alito, who was supposed to attend a similar judicial conference this past week,
concealed his appearance amidst the mass demonstrations and instead sent a
video message where he stated that it was “impractical” for him to attend.
Chief
Justice John Roberts confirmed the leak earlier in the week and echoing Justice
Thomas, he stated that “To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the
Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not
succeed. The work of the Court will not be affected in any way.” The Chief
Justice continued by stating that the leak “was a singular and egregious breach
of that trust that is an affront to the Court and the community of public
servants who work here.”
Given the unprecedented nature of the leak and the potentially dangerous ramifications, Roberts ordered the Marshal of the Supreme Court to launch an investigation to find the individual who leaked the opinion to Politico.
Thursday, Roberts stated that the leak was “absolutely appalling” and doubled down on the fact that public pressure would not impact the Court’s ultimate decision due to release this summer.
In response to this, pro-abortion activists have vandalized churches. targeted pregnancy centers, and held mass demonstrations across the United States in major cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Austin.
